thought

In the small town of Carlisle, Kentucky, Wilma Getz’s story reflects the quiet strength and resilience shared by many across rural communities.

Even in the early morning, we could feel the excitement of summer. As our young neighbors began their day at a camp facilitated by Community Inspired Lexington (CIL), one of our network partners, there was much to look forward to, like “playing at the park and having fun with the activities, and eating,” as 9-year-old Dreden told us.

Meeting Seraphina and her sisters, Timotheme and Joyce, gave us a small glimpse of the big, big world that they, as 11-, 8-, and 6-year-olds, have already seen and hope for.
