We’re encouraged that the longest government shutdown in history has finally come to an end. While the shutdown has officially ended, we know that its ripple effects will continue to be felt across Kentucky. Many families who experienced disruptions to SNAP or other assistance will need time to recover, and our work remains as critical as ever.
Public awareness of food insecurity has never been higher—and that awareness matters deeply here in Central and Eastern Kentucky, where nearly 280,000 people face hunger every day.
As we move forward, we encourage Kentuckians to continue supporting local nonprofits like God's Pantry Food Bank. The final months of the year are crucial for organizations like ours; they're what sustain our mission and help keep food on the table for our neighbors.
We remain deeply grateful for the compassion and generosity of Kentuckians who always step up in times of need. Together, we’ll continue building a stronger, more food-secure Commonwealth.
