At God's Pantry Food Bank, we believe that everyone deserves access to healthy food, regardless of their circumstances. Our partnership with Briarwood Apartments brings the Commodity Supplemental Food Program directly to residents, ensuring seniors have reliable access to nutritious food without transportation barriers.
Meeting Seniors Where They Are
For many seniors, accessing food assistance can be challenging. Transportation limitations, mobility issues, and health concerns can make it difficult to visit traditional food pantry locations. Our partnership with Briarwood Apartments eliminates these obstacles by bringing commodities directly to the residents.
"This partnership has benefitted the community in a tremendous way," shares Vicki Tyson, Briarwood's Service Coordinator who nominated God's Pantry Food Bank for the Glick Community Relief Fund grant. "Now seniors can get their commodities at the apartments, which removes a significant barrier to nutrition."

This initiative is particularly timely as we focus on addressing Senior Hunger, a growing concern across our region. With approximately 89,000 seniors experiencing food insecurity in Kentucky, targeted programs like this are essential in creating sustainable solutions.
God's Pantry Food Bank is grateful to the Glick Community Relief Fund, a grant program of Glick Philanthropies, for their support of our mission to end hunger in Central and Eastern Kentucky.
