Update: May 14, 2020
Friends,
For the last eight weeks we have provided a weekly report on the ways COVID-19 is impacting our region and the work of God’s Pantry Food Bank. This crisis affects all of our homes. Those who were hungry two months ago are still in need and food insecurity has grown among those who may have never used our services before. While some businesses are reopening, the impacts of the pandemic are far from over for us and for many of the communities we serve.
For God’s Pantry Food Bank our response in any crisis is to lean in and support where we are needed. We are humbled to be viewed as an essential organization, providing critical food assistance. As long as there is a need, we will be prepared to serve.
The Food Bank continues to modify programs and distributions to keep everyone safe while ensuring our neighbors have the food they need. We know that our work impacts many through our partnerships with more than 400 food pantry and meal programs on the front lines throughout Central and Eastern Kentucky.
Communication with you, our supporters, is important in sharing the story of what our network has seen during this time. You have stepped up in a major way to address the need and we are grateful. You will see our email updates arrive less frequently while we continue adapting to the needs of the community as it reopens. God’s Pantry Food Bank will be introducing video updates, allowing me to share with you the stories we hear every day – stories of the impact made by your generosity.
We are here, steadfast and strong. But we can’t do our work alone. We need your support, now more than ever.
Thank you.
Mike Halligan
CEO
