Sharing Thanksgiving is an important program for the Food Bank. Families in Fayette, Floyd, Rowan, and Laurel Counties don’t have to miss out on putting a traditional Thanksgiving meal on the table because of the caring and generosity of many donors and volunteers.
CEO Mike Halligan shares the history of the Sharing Thanksgiving program and tells us more about the Sharing Thanksgiving Virtual Food Drive, and provides information on how our Basket Brigade events in Lexington and London are different this year.
Because the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, partners, and clients is always at the forefront of our decisions, we are modifying Basket Brigade 2020.
We will not be packing Sharing Thanksgiving boxes at Southland Christian Church in Lexington on November 13-14 or at the Southeast Regional Distribution Center in London on November 14.
While we do not know what the months ahead will bring, please know Sharing Thanksgiving boxes will be packed, delivered, and shared with families struggling with food insecurity, ensuring they will have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner on their tables.
While we truly thank all of the participants and sponsors for the support of these two events, health and safety must come first.
Even though we can’t gather for one of our most popular annual events, you can still be a part of the Basket Brigade as a virtual participant. You can also support Sharing Thanksgiving by contributing to the Sharing Thanksgiving Virtual Food Drive.
