At the Food Bank, we know that fresh fruits and vegetables are healthy, delicious, and are foods that the individuals and families we serve want. While nonperishable foods are vital to helping families struggling with food insecurity, adding fresh produce to wholesome, nutritious meals helps children thrive and and adults and seniors remain healthy and satisfied.
Another benefit of our produce program is how it supports Kentucky’s farmers. The Farms to Food Banks program makes it possible for farmers to get excess or imperfect produce onto the plates of those in need while receiving both funds and tax benefits.
