School is back in session but in this untraditional year, many students in Central and Eastern Kentucky are still learning from home at least part-time. Many students depend on free and reduced-price school breakfast and lunch, and school districts, faith communities, and nonprofits have admirably stepped up to help fill the gap. This month, Mike talks about how our programs for kids & teens are continuing to operate to keep children fed so they can get the most out of whatever learning experience they are currently having.
Mike also talks about Feeding Kentucky’s Farms to Food Banks program, which helps cover Kentucky farmers’ costs to harvest, package, and transport donated products to feed Kentuckians facing hunger. A lot of this food – either surplus or imperfect products – would go to waste otherwise, making the program a benefit to both farmers and families in need.
Finally, we’re excited to let you in on our plans to support the Morehead Regional Distribution Center this month. Normally, we’d be hosting our annual Chili Wars event, but we have a fun and creative way to allow you to support that facility, which distributes to ten counties in the Rowan County area.
