Barrel Through Hunger Raises nearly $368,000 for Hunger Relief in Kentucky
The Bourbon Crusaders began as a group of strangers with a common interest in bourbon that gathered in early 2015 for a potluck-style tasting. The group quickly became fast friends, and have continued as a group to taste and review the best bourbons, as well as host incredible bourbon-centered events to benefit causes they care about in Kentucky.
In November 2019 the Bourbon Crusaders teamed up with Four Roses Bourbon for their most successful fundraiser yet! The event, held at Louisville’s Mint on Mellwood, benefitted God’s Pantry Food Bank and Dare to Care Food Bank, setting a new fundraising record with Barrel Through Hunger.
Guests mingled with bourbon experts like Chris Morris of Brown-Forman, Dr. Pat Heist of Wilderness Trail, and the team from Four Roses, including Al Young, Marcus Niemann, and Mandy Vance. While dinner was served by chef Josh Moore, attendees bid generously on the silent auction items. After dinner, Emcees Fred Minnick and Ryan Cecil opened the highly-anticipated live auction. Barrels offered by four Kentucky distilleries plus other amazing auction items pushed the donation total past prior years’ totals. With the help of the oldest Four Roses barrel to ever be offered for a private barrel selection that sold for $65,000, The Bourbon Crusaders raised $368,000 at Barrel Through Hunger, with each food bank receiving $184,000.
Many thanks to The Bourbon Crusaders for joining us in the fight against hunger!
